NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation

FIRST steps – Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training – is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers. New firearm owners are encouraged to take the “first step” of obtaining training, and the NRA FIRST Steps Program is to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of one specific firearm model.

Students receive a completion certificate at the conclusion of this NRA course; and this NRA course satisfies the training requirement for a Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit.

COST: $75 per student*
DURATION: Approximately 4 hours, includes a live-fire shooting exercise.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Bring your own firearm for the course and one box (50 rounds) of ammunition. Participants that do not own a firearm can rent one from Range 82 and the required ammunition is provided in the rental price.

*Due to the length of the course and range time required, pre-payment is required with enrollment form.

An Instructor shows a student how to handle a weapon.
**Attendees must complete a course enrollment form, a signed hold harmless agreement, a safety rules form, and submit payment before a reservation can be completed.**
